KuosiKioski Advent Calendar: Door Twenty-four

...It was late on Christmas Eve but Ed still had one very special place left to visit. Ed had heard that his neighbours and very good friends The Nun´s had got a new member of the family.

The Nun´s were really proud of their firstborn and they decided to call him Jesse. Jesse was quietly sleeping in his bed when Ed arrived. Ed congratulated The Nun´s and as a gift he promised to help the new parents to teach Jesse how to fly (as a father Ed knew that it was quite a task!).

Little after Ed also others came to congratulate The Nun´s. The most exotic visitors were, Caspar The SandRat, Melchior The RockHyrax and Balthasar The FennexFox, travelers from east who were spending the Christmas holidays in town. They brought Jesse peculiar but exquisite gifts. There was paste that smelled heavenly, some kind of aroma sticks that you could burn and a golden Christmas bauble.

Christmas Eve was fillied with love, smiles and goodwill. And so with love in his heart Ed returned home to his beautiful family. They had the most peaceful and merry Christmas of all time.

...Old folks' home was the second last place on Ed´s visiting list. When he arrived Grandpa Beaver and Grandma Mousie were singing Christmas carols. It might be that they didn´t hit every note but that didn´t matter. In fact, they were so sweet that Ed got a little emotional and sent his warm thoughts to his own grandparent who were spending the holidays in Hawaii.

Ed had a lovely time, but there was still one special place left to visit before he could return home...

KuosiKioski Findings: Pohjola House

When visiting a new city your eyes are constantly looking for new interesting things and beautiful scenes to capture on film (or pixels nowadays). But when walking in a familiar surroundings you usually forget to pay attencion for details. It´s also sometimes difficult to see what is interesting in the scenery that has in your eyes become ordinary and plain. Good tip is to sit down on a bench, watch turist go by and note what they are photographing. And also remember to look up.
Ones in a while I try to see my homecity Helsinki with the eyes of a turist. Since 1901, Pohjola-House, a building designed by Herman Gesellius, Armas Lindgren and Eliel Saarinen in the national romantic style, has stood at Aleksanterinkatu 44. Facades enchanting stone sculptures inspired by finnish folktails and nature are sculpted by Hilda Flodin.

Even I have seen this building hundereds of times before, I don´t remember ever really seeing it.
